Hello and welcome to UPDATE 4 of SENRAN KAGURA ESTIVAL VERSUS: The final stretch!
As you know, SENRAN KAGURA ESTIVAL VERSUS is just around the corner – you will be able to get your hands on the game on 18th March! To make the wait a bit more bearable, we’re going to share with you the latest news.
First and foremost, the hottest topic: DLC. There’s a LOT of content that’s going to be coming in the weeks after the game releases. To begin with, and as you already know, a patch will update the game to version 1.17 and will include a bunch of additional content, like improvements, missions and characters. However, this is only the beginning of the DLC downpour! The rest of the content will be distributed throughout the 4 weeks following the launch of the game.
The way we have set this up is as follows: You are of course free to purchase most of the items individually. However, you can also purchase sets of items if you’re after something in particular. And if you are the keenest of collectors, you will also be able to purchase ‘Mega Bundles’ containing all the DLC released on that week for even bigger savings. Therefore, if you just want to have all the DLC for the game, you can simply purchase the 4 Mega Bundles that will be released on the 4 consecutive weeks following launch. There are a couple of items, however, that won’t be included in sets or Mega Bundles – these will have to be purchased separately (such as the SV BGM). Please see the release schedule below:
We will be releasing the pricing for the additional content on release, week by week as an update. We are keen to provide a quick and easy reference to content so please watch out on our social channels and this website for this information.
Besides all this DLC, there’s one more patch looming over the horizon: 1.19. This patch will update the Western version to the latest Japanese version and will also enable the use of the 5 costumes featured in the Sakura Edition of SENRAN KAGURA ESTIVAL VERSUS, only released in Japan. These will be available as separate, paid downloads at a later date.
Moving back to the Limited Editions – by popular demand, we would also like to take this opportunity to show you the artbooks that will be bundled in the ‘Bahonkas’ and ‘Kagura Millennium Festival’ editions of the game. We think they look amazing – the colours really pop out! But don’t take our word for it – see for yourselves:
We also have the final CD sleeve and CDs printed and finished in all their glory! We can’t wait for everyone to get their hands on this soundtrack. It’s kept the production team entertained throughout the whole project – we’re a bit biased, but it’s fantastic!
Last but not least, a finalised printed Limited Edition box appeared in the office last week, and we were keen to slip this into the update! We look forward to pictures of these joining your collections, and hopefully, sitting proudly among them!
Whilst on the topic, our Limited Editions are selling fast – and we are close to selling out already! If you are keen to secure your hands on a Bahonkas edition for example, we have around 100 left in stock for PS4, but none for PS Vita! Our remaining Limited Editions can be purchased at http://www.marvelousgames.com.
And now, let’s talk about the star of the show! We would like to share something really special with all of you. We’ve been working very hard on a series of three live action trailers that we hope you will enjoy. When put together, they form a very peculiar story of romance, passion and obsession. Well, perhaps they are not as serious as all that… Here’s the first one for your enjoyment!
One last thing before we wrap this up! We are delighted to announce that we have partnered with PQube to distribute SENRAN KAGURA ESTIVAL VERSUS across Europe, and into some well-known brick-and-mortar stores! This is a big step for us, and we’re really proud that this is our first product to achieve this with. Please watch our social channels to find out exactly where the games will be sold!

Hello and welcome to UPDATE 3 of SENRAN KAGURA ESTIVAL VERSUS: Details galore!
It’s been a while since the last update, but we’re sure that the avalanche of news and interesting content of this one will more than make up for the wait! We have so much stuff to share with you that it’s actually difficult to decide where to start, so prepare yourself for a veritable information overload!
To begin with, we would like to show you the final Dakimakura case. Here it is in all its glory; no mock-ups, no watermarks, no drafts – just three of the classiest and most attractive ladies you will ever see, and they can’t wait to share a bed with you!
And speaking of beauty, this is as good a moment as any to show you the final artwork that will be on the cover of the games.
Why are we using two different covers? The reason why we are using a different art for the PS Vita version is because the USK logo (the age ratings system in Germany) takes too much space on the PS Vita box, and it really did not look nice, as it covered Miyabi’s face. That’s why we kept the original image from the Japanese image for the PS Vita version, but since both images are really beautiful, we’re sure that everyone will be pleased.
Oh, there’s another little detail we would like to share with you about the covers. As it turns out, they will be reversible! If you prefer the Japanese front cover on your PS4 version – then we’ve got you covered too! If you prefer the PS4 design on your PS Vita case – then, you’ve guessed it!
But wait, there’s more! A reversible cover you say? But that means there is a back too – and we’ve really gone all out… we hope you will like the art we’ve chosen – it took many internal discussions, but we think the final result is well worth it!
What about the box, we hear you cry?! We’ve kept the design very similar to the Japanese – but with a Marvelous twist! The artwork is now supersized to show off its incredible glory. Remember those swanky SENRAN KAGURA 2: Deep Crimson boxes? These are the same size! If you are the keenest of collectors you might fancy pushing two boxes together for the full picture, or if you prefer switch a single box around for the equally delightful reverse. We couldn’t leave anyone without any of the characters! Here’s the prototype (quality not final):
And what’s inside? Well we’ve stepped up our game in this department too – we’ve trimmed a bit of fat, and if you are lucky enough to have secured a Bahonkas edition then you will find another addition! Or rather, a reduction! Don’t be surprised if you find Katsuragi peeking perversely at you as you delve into the goodies!
Next up is the soundtrack! Again, we’ve kept to the original Japanese format of providing the larger case and even kept cuties Yagyu and Hibari on the front – on the inside we’ve opted to show more delicious artwork featuring all four academy leaders in their beach attire. You’ll be pleased to hear that we can share the final artwork of the CD sleeve and the CDs themselves, as well as the final track list. Here’s the whole shebang! We pushed really hard for as much content as possible – and the keen-eyed might notice a few little extras! We hope you enjoy!

Another entirely new addition to these already “bursting to the brim” special editions – something to keep our very special art cards collated nicely: your very own ESTIVAL VERSUS envelope. It’s a little something – but we are always wanting to improve things and every little helps!

Next up, an update about the game itself! And we have been on quite the journey.
We have heard the cries about what’s happening with the patches and DLC and we finally are able to let everyone know what the deal is.
Patch
A patch will update the game to version 1.17 and will include all of the additional content, improvements and bug fixes that come with it. It’s worth mentioning that two of characters, Daidōji and Rin, which have previously been paid-for additions, are included for FREE!
Examples of free goodies added in the patch include new and exciting missions, more background illustrations for the Dressing Room, a load more accessories for your Shinobi and additional “Creative Finishers” that can be activated by defeating other Shinobi (or being defeated!) while standing next to certain points during gameplay. We have a few favourites in the office, and would love to know which ones are yours!
Paid Content
Other characters such as Ayame, Ayane, Naraku AND Kagura will also be available as paid downloadable content.
The release plans for paid content has yet to be finalised – but rest assured, we will be making this information available in the final ESTIVAL VERSUS Update, and through our social channels.
Expect much more content in the form of missions, costumes, SHINOVI VERSUS BGM tracks, accessories and hairstyles!
Whilst on the topic of paid DLC, we regret to inform you that the Ikki Tousen characters (Sonsaku, Kan-u and Ryofu) will stay exclusive to the Japanese version. This means that they will not be purchasable or playable in the Western release of the game.
In order to maintain compatibility with the Japanese version, online players using Ikki Tousen characters against you will be presented with re-skinned versions of these characters. Please note that these re-skins won’t be available for sale either.
We understand this is very disappointing news, but sadly, due to international licensing issues, these characters could not be included. In the unlikely scenario that these licensing issues change we will endeavour to bring them over.
Moving onto something a bit more positive, we would like to show you how dedicated we are to bringing the glorious majesty of sweet, sweet Oppai to the western world. To that effect, we leave you with the barcodes that will decorate the outside packaging of the limited editions of the game. We relish the thought of Oppai delighting the many hands that will eventually deliver the final product to your door!

Welcome to UPDATE 2 on SENRAN KAGURA: ESTIVAL VERSUS. It’s already been a month since our first update and you can bet the release of ESTIVAL VERSUS will be here before you know it! HD oppai will be with you soon my friends…
We’ve been busy putting together ideas with how we want everything to look for our collector’s edition, but we thought we’d take a break and show you some brand new information in this update as we want to keep you all involved in the process, after all, this wouldn’t be possible without you, the fans!
Last update we showed the initial design from Takaki-san who has been working diligently in order to deliver the final design of the Dakimakura case, and we have that here right now to show you!

Well this is it, this is what will adorn the front and back of the Dakimakura case if you purchased the Bahonkas or the aptly acronymed SSSSnSSS edition from us! We hope you enjoy the look of it, we will be sure to show you the finished product when we have it in our hands.

SENRAN KAGURA ESTIVAL VERSUS UPDATE ONE – “The Proof is in the Pillow”
And here we are, for the first of many Updates coming for SENRAN KAGURA ESTIVAL VERSUS, aptly titled “The Proof is in the Pillow”. Obviously we’re quite a ways off right now! But nothing wrong with building up that hype train right?! And what a train it will be.
First off, you may have noticed some polls we were throwing around our social media, two specifically – one relating to the more familiar characters, and a second, relating to SK:EV characters. We’ve been very fortunate to work closely with the legendary producer, Takaki-san once again in order to create the ‘Ultimate SK Dakimakura’ case for our SENRAN KAGURA ESTIVAL VERSUS ‘Bahonkas Edition’ – we believe we’ve done just that, with your aid! Everyone’s votes have helped us solidify our original vision of the Dakimakura with even more clarity.
We are happy to confirm that the Dakimakura for SENRAN KAGURA ESTIVAL VERSUS will not have one, nor two, but a total of three characters! In true SENRAN KAGURA rival fashion, one side will exhibit the regular pairing of the ever bosomy Katsuragi, and will find herself in the familiar company with the consistently stoical Hikage. On the reverse, fully representing the new title, SENRAN KAGURA ESTIVAL VERSUS, will be the fantastic drumming instrumentalist Renka with her landslide victory in the polls! It was always going to be a hard final choice, as there are so many great and worthy characters to choose from – but we are sure this marvelous threesome will be to your liking and a unique piece for every collector! We had always planned for a unique design that could really boost the already bursting ESTIVAL VERSUS editions with even more SENRAN KAGURA righteousness.
Takaki-san has very much been a part of the whole process, driving for bigger and better – and so now, we’ve handed him a blank canvas onto which has laid his masterwork, to create something truly awesome for us all. Below you can see early draft designs of both sides, we hope you’re as excited as us to see the final piece!

Onto the actual Dakimakura case itself, we’ve been analysing lots of samples sent to us from various suppliers, scrutinising the print quality, the myriad textures on offer as well other variables such as weight, packaging and thickness.
After much discussion and deliberation we have finalised our choice of supplier as well as our fabric texture, which for those well-versed in Dakimakura lexicon will understand as ‘Peach Skin’. Obviously it’s impossible for us to generate a texture based panel on your monitor so you can feel this texture (*patents idea*), but it’s sure to be to your liking!
And that’s UPDATE 1 in a nutshell, we will have plenty more on the way soon, but we wanted to let you guys know the ins and outs of the Dakimakura details, as well as the early designs from Takaki-san!
